Irony. During a commercial for Hulu , it froze. Buffered. Then went off line. After rebooting - froze again. Then finally came back to live TV, Dancing with the Stars. Buffeted. Froze. Went forward. Then froze. Went back to another spot. Buffeted. Beyond my understanding of how they can put a product out like this.

I like the app, but seriously why would anyone think that a swipe to fast forward or rewind is a good idea. I have accidentally bumped the screen the wrong way wayyyy too many times and have to watch 3 sets of ads to find out where I was in the show. Please fix. Thanks.

As a designer myself I appreciate the attempt at something different, but this is pretty bad. The gradients are annoying after a while. Only being able to see one thing on the screen at a time and the is anxiety inducing. It is especially frustrating on my Roku. Please bring back the old design.

After this new update the Chromecast button disappeared on my iPhone app. I am severely not pleased! We need you to fix it! I will be deleting my subscription soon if it is not fixed. I’m not going to pay $11.99 if I cannot watch it on my tv’s. Please just give us back the old Hulu. It worked without any problems.

I got a subscription to Live Hulu and was pretty disappointed. I give 3 stars because while the $8 subscription is ok, the $40 subscription is nowhere near worth it. And still Netflix has better content.

I love the update!!! Very visually appealing and easy to navigate but you guys removed HDMI support!!! Why would you do this!!!! I live in a rural area where I can’t get any internet so I use my mobile device with an HMDI converter cable or use Apple TV mirroring to watch our favorite shows as family!!! I can’t do this anymore the commercials will appear and work just fine but the program is black with only sound!! This doesn’t work to be paying for something that I can longer use with my family to watch!!! We can’t all sit around to watch a movie on a small phone screen!!! I would hate to cancel please fix!!!!

First the good:
The content is much better, and more diverse than Netflix's short list of B-C rated movies and shows that nobody has heard of.

The bad:
The way that the tabs are set up is terrible, it is unnecessarily tedious to find your way to the episode menu, and when you do it goes to the most recent season, not the one you are currently watching.

And the ugly:
I cannot overstate this... THE FF/RW INTERFACE IS THE SLOPPIEST DESIGN FLAW SINCE THE EXHAST PORT ON THE DEATH STAR!!!! It is so stupid, when you touch ANYWHERE on the screen from the control interface while watching the show it immediately jumps to that spot, and when you try to find your way back to your spot, since it doesn't preview where you are skipping to you have to tap around on the screen like a three-year-old playing friggin flappy-bird until you either find your spot, or give up and get so angry with this being a daily struggle, you go onto the App Store to leave a scathing multi-paragraph rant as a review... which is exactly what just happened.

TL;DR
Great content, the app interface is worse than windows xp, with a mashed potato smeared on the motherboard.

New and unfriendly scrolling feature

Hulu now allows the user to scroll by, apparently, randomly touching the screen. Which is a great new method of subjugation by advertisement. I scroll too far, and have to watch extra commercials, then scroll back to where I was, and watch the commercials all over again.

I was hoping that one of the “few tweaks” with this latest update would be a modification to this awful scrolling feature. Just loaded up and found it was left as is.

The app will no longer launch!! Can’t even log onto Hulu.com/account to cancel my subscription. Seems like with a 1.8 overall rating, Hulu brain-children might actually decide to make some positive changes for their PAYING CUSTOMERS. But, who am I to say.... Do yourself a favor and don’t even download this pathetic piece of “app”.

Such a hard app to use now. I will opt to use Netflix just for the sake of not having to search the great blue sea to watch a tv show.
Simple search and find was just perfect. This app is even harder to navigate through on my PS4. Unbearable

Why update to make it prettier then take away a key feature like picture in picture? Then add the stupid skip ahead crap. Now if I barely miss the pause button it skips waaaaayyyy ahead and makes me sit through 90 seconds of commercials before I can try to rewind to watch yet another 90 seconds of commercials just to see that I went back too far or not enough and have to sit through more commercials. If this isn't fixed soon I will be cancelling my subscription.

I love the new look, I love the new features- like the fliptray, and my lineup. However the rewind/fast forward is too sensitive for how I use my phone. Sometimes I watch Hulu while I cook on my phone, so I’m constantly picking it up and moving it, or holding onto it listening while I move through the house. It’s okay if it pauses but often if I graze the screen it ends up restarting the program or zooming it to another part. Then I have to wait through the commercials to even figure out what the heck I did. If you mistakenly touch the screen then it activates. I’ve been watching a show and tapped the screen to check the time and ended up restarting the program and completely forgot where I was. I feel like it should have to be tapped twice, or selected specifically if you can rewind by touching any part of the screen. Otherwise you should only be able to do it by dragging your finger on the timeline itself like YouTube, and other video apps. It’s super annoying!

English Dubbed anime

Hulu should have anime show in English instead of just English subtitles. I have only one anime show that is in both English dubbed and English subtitles.

If an anime show starts out in English dubbed and English subtitles it should stay the same through out the show. For example Fairytale only has a few seasons with English dubbed and English subtitles.

Every time I watch 'Bleach' the anime series in English dub it gives me English subtitles even when I have it marked as no subtitles. This is very irritating when I have English subtitles and English dub at the same time.

I got my hopes up with the apology update for PIP, and keep checking the App Store for an update reenabling hdmi cord adapter and airplay options.
Sure, I also agree with some of the other reviewers’ issues, but at worst they waste my time or frustrate me. The new layout seems counterintuitive, but I can still search for what I want to watch. Lose my spot in episode with a tap that wasn’t intended to skip ahead/back, or returning to app after phone call and it starts over, and I can deal.
However, when someone else wants to watch something with me, I’m no longer able to put it on a larger screen, so I turn Hulu off. And when I’m doing other things that occupy my hands more than my eyes (like laundry or dishes), it’s not feasible to watch Hulu like I used to if I’d have to hold phone.
So, the less I’m able to watch Hulu due to the audio only through hdmi and airplay, the more I’m watching “whatever’s on” on tv, and I’d rather switch to another commercial free streaming service than channel surf through never ending commercials on network tv. Please

Please add a setting to disable the picture in picture or mini mode (whatever you call it). It’s annoying to hit the home button but Hulu goes into mini window mode and continues to play. The ability to turn that off would be appreciated.

The new update is the OPPOSITE of user friendly. Took forever to figure out how to navigate and doesn’t make sense at all, have to scroll through pages and pages to get to what you want because there is only one show shown per page.

The app is also EXTREMELY buggy, it’s the only streaming app on my iPad that shows me error messages at least twice per viewing session. I’ve tried closing and restarting and even uninstalling/reinstalling the app with no improvement. I’m usually forced to stop watching all together.

SUPER frustrated Hulu!! Get it together!!

Picture freezing but audio is still playing

I've tried multiple times to watch a particular show on my phone but at a certain random point the picture freezes but the audio is still playing. I know it isn't my phone that is the problem, it's Hulu, because when I close out the app and open it again it will be fine for a while but then do the same thing all over again. Very frustrating when trying to watch a show.

The new scrub feature on the full screen is too easy to bump, meaning content is often jumped forward or backwards accidentally. Since Hulu sill doesn't have frame previews like most other video apps, it takes a long time to get back to where you were. How this is still not fixed is a mystery. It is terrible.

The resume feature is still bad. If you have 2 minutes left in a show when leaving the app it will start the next show when you return instead of showing you the end.

The new browsing style makes it confusing to get back to all the episodes in a show. And since Hulu is bad at resuming where you were you will be forced to deal with it a lot just to go back one episode. Why are you recommending I watch the new season 6 episode 4 of a show when I've clearly started at the beginning and am only in season 2? Write some more complex logic.

So my moms friend downloaded this on my iPad so I can watch some shows that Netflix doesn’t have and there’s a show called Steven universe and Cartoon Network cancelled it for some dumb reason and since this has it I’m watching it BUT here’s the PROBLEM: On S3 the episodes are mixed up. ALSO, when I try to rewind or fast forward something it goes back or forward into the episode. Please fix this and add the 4th season of Steven universe please. This is a good app but you guys need to get better.

Terrible. Should have left it alone! The new interface is rediculous. Its impossible to control the fast forward and you always end up accidently going to the next episode.
Theres no quick way to just pick an episode anymore. Hulu seriously get better app designers! This app has become too complicated! Just make it simple!

LOVE HULU and all that it features, waaay better than Netflix. However, I honestly miss streaming HULU with my HDMI Screen Mirroring plug and for some reason the screen is completely blank with audio from the shows still playing. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP.

The full screen scrubbing makes it way too easy to accidentally fast forward/rewind a show. Add a proper scrubber! Stop trying to outthink the room. 1 star until you fix this.

I love Hulu, don’t get me wrong. It has so many shows to pick from and watch! But, I have a problem. I have full internet. My reception bars are at a 2-3. But I still can’t load the shows!

You have great shows, but you seem bound and determined to make your user interface crap. I’ve been using it since the beta and I’ve been looking at peoples reviews and they are overwhelmingly negative. change course give up on the annoying interface. Yes it looks nice but that’s it. Is it terrible to use.

The only way the got an “editors choice” award is because Hulu paid for it. This app is terrible.

The new interface for Hulu makes me cringe. Navigating between shows went from something super simple to something extremely complicated. The new look of the app is cool, but functionality is lacking. The rewind feature, the method of scrolling through shows (1 at a time) has me using other apps more frequently than Hulu now.

This newest update is so severely flawed it has completely ruined my viewer experience. Trying to touch any part of the screen automatically fasts forwards or rewinds because of the new features they have. App won’t let me login with user name and password. Tried to uninstall/reinstall it. No luck. Tried technical support, hulu.com wont load chat and waited for 40 minutes when they said the wait time was 15. Not sure what to do about this app.

When watching a show the video will freeze on the picture but will continue playing the audio. I have to try and rewind to get it to play right. Also, it’s so frustrating when I tap on my screen (sometimes on accident) and it fast forwards me to a whole different part of the show. I never had problems before the app was updated.
